Prepare for NYC's Natural Gas Alarm Requirements

New York City is requiring natural gas detecting devices in covered residential properties with natural gas piping or service. The NYC Department of Buildings' compliance deadline to install natural gas alarms is January 1, 2027 — DOB determined that at least four distinct manufacturers of qualifying battery-powered alarms are available, so the conditional January 1, 2029 extension under Local Law 102 was not triggered.
